Elgato Systems — which makes such products as the Thunderbolt 3 Dock and a variety of products compatible with Apple’s HomeKit — announced it will shift its focus exclusively to Eve, its smart home product line.
To reflect that it will change its name to Eve Systems. Elgato Gaming, the company’s streaming accessory division, will be sold to leading gaming peripherals maker Corsair and continue as a separate brand.
“Today, the Gaming space is more dynamic and exciting than ever, and we sought a larger partner to help us capitalize on the phenomenal opportunities ahead” Markus Fest, Elgato’s founder and now CEO of Eve Systems, said in a press release. “Our gaming business has been wildly successful, and that success is inextricably linked to the Elgato brand. The brand has been with us for almost twenty years and we are obviously a little sad to see it go, but Corsair is a fantastic company and will be a great new home for Elgato. At the same time our Eve product line will benefit from a focused team and a dedicated organization. This move will further strengthen both product families.”
Eve Systems offers a constantly expanding ecosystem of accessories designed exclusively for the HomeKit-enabled household. Apple’s HomeKit is a framework that allows control of compatible home automation devices through iOS and Siri.
