Elgato expands its HomeKit offerings with the Eve Degree Temperature/Humidity Sensor

Elgato has been creating devices that work with Apple’s HomeKit home automation framework for a while now, and its latest entry is quite the good-looking device. The US$69.95 Eve Degree Temperature and Humidity Sensor features an Apple-like design (aluminum and black glass) with a large easy-to-read display showing the temperature and humidity.

Being a HomeKit device, the Eve Degree communicates with your Apple gear via Bluetooth, then tracks the data it grabs in graphs that are visible in the Eve app. You can also just ask Siri questions like “What’s the temperature in the living room right now?” to get a quick response when you’re not looking at the Eve Degree’s display. It features IPX3 water resistance and can be used inside or out.

To access the Eve Degree remotely, you’ll need a fourth-generation Apple TV or other full-time connected device (I use an iPad mini) to serve as a hub. Those interested in Eve Degree will be able to purchase one starting on June 6, 2017.
