Dribbin’ around with Arcade Hoops Basketball on iOS devices

By Frank Petrie

Arcade Hoops Basketball from Skyworks Interactive has been bouncing around on iOS devices for awhile. And no wonder: it’s a fine game.

As the name implies, this iApp mimics the basketball machine that you’ll find in any arcade. You have a choice of two games: Classic and Progressive. Both keep lists of high scores.

The Classic is shooting at a stationary hoop. The Progressive is where the hoop moves towards you and away from you.

The graphics are very good. And I really enjoy the game’s default soundtrack. It goes right on by the cliched music used in sports games. There’s three soundtracks to choose from and sound effects that you turn on or mute.

For the price (free! — but with in-app purchases), Arcade Hoops Basketball is quite impressive. And like all good iApp games, addictive. Well, worth your time and money. Even if, like me, you suck at it.
