Could 16-inch MacBook Pros, new MacBooks be coming soon?

As noted by MacRumors, Apple has registered seven unreleased Mac models in the Eurasian Economic Commission database today, including A2141, A2147, A2158, A2159, A2179, A2182, and A2251, according to listings uncovered by MacRumors. All seven models appear to be notebooks, as they are described as “portable” computers.

The most likely update is for the 12-inch MacBook line, which hasn’t been updated in almost two years. Some pundits think it will be the first Mac to sport an Apple-developed A.x processor.

The Sellers Research Group (that’s me) says this is unlikely. I suspect the upgraded MacBook will offer processor and graphics upgrades in the current form factor.

Of course, Apple isn’t going to release seven MacBook models, so it’s possible that we’ll see the super-sized MacBook Pro that’s been predicted by Ming-Chi Kuo.

The analyst has previously forecast that Apple would release a 16-inch (perhaps 17-inch pro laptop) this year. Then he tweaked his prediction to a 2020 release date.

Apple surprised everyone with a 15-inch MacBook Pro update last May, so another update seems unlikely. But,  hey, it’s Apple, so you never can tell.
