Apple’s Oakridge Centre retail store will temporarily close as mall undergoes massive redevelopment

Almost all of the retailers at Vancouver’s Oakridge Centre will close their doors at the end of September until 2024 to help accelerate the process of the mall’s “incredible” overhaul, according to Retail Insider. The mall’s Apple retail store will also close for a while.

The redevelopment will include a new civic hub with homes for more than 6,000 residents, a new community centre and daycare, one million square feet of retail and a nine acre park, there will be ongoing modifications as to how guests, merchants and residents enter and exit the shopping centre..

The Oakridge Centre is a regional mall centrally located in the city of Vancouver, British Columbia. The retail component as of right now totals 574,000 square feet and consists of a mix of convenience shopping and upscale fashion destination tenants. The centre welcomes some 8.7 million visitors annually and features many limited or exclusive tenants including Crate & Barrel, Apple, MaxMara, Hugo Boss, Harry Rosen, Stuart Weitzman, LEGO, Michael Kors, Tiffany & Co. and more.

According to 9to5 Mac, mall owner QuadReal confirmed that Apple will create a brand new flagship store spanning more than 10,000 square feet in the redevelopment. Numerous Oakridge Centre project renderings depict spaces with familiar Apple finishes.
