Rumor: Apple has sent folding iPhones to Foxconn for testing (I’m dubious)

Take this one with a grain (or two of salt): Economic Daily News says Apple has sent prototypes of folding iPhones to manufacturer partner Foxconn for testing.

The tech giant has also purportedly asked Foxconn to evaluate the bearings (the folding component) of the devices with over 100,000 opening and closing tests. I’m dubious that Apple will make a folding smartphone; if it does, it won’t appear in 2021.

I could be wrong. Apple has been granted, or applied for, numerous patents involving a foldable iPhone (and even foldable iPads). For example, in July the tech giant was granted a patent for a “foldable electronic device with exposed display region.”
