Apple leaker l0vetodream tweets that a smaller, less expensive HomePod (HomePod mini?) will arrive this year, but no second generation of the “regular sized” speaker.
The Sellers Research Group (that’s me) thinks the HomePod mini will be unveiled at the October 13 “Hi, Speed” Apple event, along with the iPhone 12 line-up. A smaller, lower priced HomePod has been rumored for two years. The general gist of the speculation is that a “HomePod mini” would cost US$150-$200.
I’d love to see Apple debut a high end HomePod soundbar for connecting to HDTVs. HomePod Studio, perhaps?
Apple debuted the HomePod in February 2018 with a $349 price tag, but then reduced its price to $299 in April 2019.
