Look for iPhone 12 line-up and more at October 13 “Hi, Speed” virtual Apple event

Apple has announced an online special event dubbed “Hi, Speed” that will be held on Tuesday, Oct.13, at 10 a.m. (Pacific).

You can bet good money that the tech giant will unveil its iPhone 12 line-up with the “speed” in “Hi, Speed” referring to 5G models. Look for the line-up to include  the “‌iPhone 12‌ mini,” “‌iPhone 12‌,” “‌iPhone 12‌ Pro,” and “‌iPhone 12‌ Pro Max.” The 5.4-inch model is the ‌iPhone 12‌ mini, the 6.7-inch model is the ‌iPhone 12‌ Pro Max, and the two 6.1-inch models being the ‌iPhone 12‌ and ‌iPhone 12‌ Pro. Prices should start at US$649, $999, $749, and $1,099, respectively.

The Sellers Research group (that’s me) also thinks we’ll see AirTags, the “HomePod mini,” and “AirPods Studio” announced on October 13. The AirTag will be a Tile competitor. The Tile is a tiny Bluetooth tracker and app combo. After you have purchased the hardware, download the app to iOS device, and pair your Tile to your device. Once your device is paired use your app to find your item; just listen for the ring. You could attach an AirTag to iPhones, iPads, Apple TV remotes, keys, wallets, etc, to help track down missing items.

A smaller, lower priced HomePod has been rumored for two years. The general gist of the speculation is that a “HomePod mini” would cost US$150-$200.

The rumored “AirPods Studio” (shown in a mock-up) are expected to be mainly targeted to pro users, who will be able to unlock custom equalizer settings. User convenience features could include automatically detecting the orientation of the headphones on a user’s head are also discussed, as well as various power-saving features and sensor configurations.
