Apple has removed the Apple TV Remote app from the App Store. The free tool allowed users to control an Apple TV set-top box from their iPhone or iPad.
According to 9to5 Mac, the removal of the app from the App Store isn’t surprising. Apple has added the Remote feature built into the Control Center in iOS 12, so Apple TV users can have access to all the controls on Siri Remote without having to download any app.
If you need a Mac app for controlling an iTunes “stream,” you might check out BarTunes, TunesBar+, and/or MiniPlayer. I haven’t tested ‘em out, but they might be of interest to someone who misses the Apple TV Remote for some reason.
