If you travel with one of the latest MacBook Pros or 12-inch MacBooks equipped with USB-C, the USB-C Compact Dock from the Swiss-based company of LMP can make life a lot less complicated.
It’s a 4K, 8-port USB-C Compact Dock with — pay attention now —Mini-DP, HDMI, Ethernet, USB 3.0, SD/microSD, and USB-C ports. And the USB-C Compact Dock has the unique (as best I can tell) feature of 4K@60 Hz in a USB-C dock (mini-DP or DP), plus another 4K@30 Hz over HDMI or Ethernet. This means you can extend your MacBook Pro to work with two 4K displays.
The two USB 3.0 ports offer fast data exchange and, as you’d expect, are backwards compatible with USB 2.0/1.1. One of the ports packs an output of 1.5A (with power delivery attached) that provides enough juice to charge your iPad or iPhone.
The aluminum design of the LMP USB-C Compact Dock is a fine aesthetic match with Apple’s laptop and helps dissipate heat. The rubber feet on the back side prevent the USB-C ports from strain.
The LMP USB-C Compact Dock is the most powerful USB-C attachable docking station I’ve yet tested. And, at around $85, it’s a great value.
