Craig Federighi: Apple will continue support for ‘great automation technologies in macOS’

Responding to the brouhaha that the position of product manager of Automation Technologies has been eliminated, Craig Federighi, Apple’s senior vice president of Software Engineering, told 9to5Mac that “we have every intent to continue our support for great automation technologies in macOS.”

Of course, continuing to support AppleScript and Automator is a lot different than adding new features. As 9to5Mac notes, the automation solutions may be in “maintenance mode,” where the products continue to be supported but don’t have a new features roadmap for future macOS versions.
