AWT TV Episode 14: July 10, 2017

Welcome to AWT TV, a weekly show featuring Steve Sande, Dennis Sellers and Marty Edwards of Apple World Today. Each week we’ll discuss what’s happened in the world of Apple, talk about new apps and accessories, maybe even have a demonstration or two of the latest software. Be sure to subscribe to the Apple World Today video channel on YouTube.

This week, it’s just Steve and Marty, but we have a lot to talk about as usual.

Steve has had some gradually worsening issues with his late 2015 27-inch 5K iMac, so he finally (before just wiping the machine) called Apple Support. He was impressed with the support tech and all she tried to do, although he was able to get the machine back to normal condition by doing a clean install of macOS Sierra.

We then talked about the need for a remote control capability for iOS, which will most likely require much better multitasking in Apple’s mobile operating system.

Marty spent some time talking about the settings for Do Not Disturb on the iPhone, after having a lady at his church who said she had it turned on…but kept getting calls and notifications during a service. Marty as usual has looked deep into this iOS capability and come up with some things you might not know about it!

Steve did a quick demo of a handy app from Softorino called YouTube Converter 2 (https://softorino.com/youtube-converter-2/). It’s a surprisingly useful app for anyone who likes to download YouTube videos for viewing on Mac, iPhone or iPad.

As usual, the show was a lot of fun and had a lot of good info! Be sure to watch us every Monday night at 6:30 PM PT/9:30 PM ET here on the Apple World Today channel on YouTube. Subscribe to the channel, and be sure to give us a “like” if you enjoyed the show.
