Apple is using Google cloud services for iCloud user data storage

<p>A mention in the Apple <a target="_blank" href="https://images.apple.com/business/docs/iOS_Security_Guide.pdf" rel="noopener noreferrer">iOS Security Guide</a> shows that Apple is using Google's cloud storage services to store iCloud user data. This is the first tacit acknowledgement of rumors from 2016 that suggested that Apple was paying Google and other third-party companies for cloud storage.</p>

Typed shutting down — really — on March 1st

<p>Typed, a simple blogging platform from Realmac Software's Dan Counsell, is shutting down for good on March 1, 2018. The platform was funded with an Indiegogo campaign that had 879 backers, and went live about the same time Apple World Today was starting up in February of 2015.</p>

DroneDeploy iOS Live Map feature revolutionizes aerial mapping with real-time capability

<p>As a commercial drone pilot, I'm very familiar with <a target="_blank" href="https://www.dronedeploy.com" rel="noopener noreferrer">DroneDeploy</a> -- it's a platform that uses an iOS app connected to a remote controller to automate aerial mapping from drones. Last week, DroneDeploy updated its app with a new feature called <a target="_blank" href="https://www.dronedeploy.com/live-map.html" rel="noopener noreferrer">Live Map</a>, which lets drone operators create real-time maps in the field on the iOS device.</p>
