Apple Watch helps make navigating a new city easy and safe

Nothing says “I’m a tourist,” or worse, “Mug me, I’m not paying attention” like staring at a map on your phone. Apple Watch lets me avoid that scenario and still navigate someplace new.

I spent this past weekend in New York City, visiting family. My wife, my kids and I visit every summer, and we're getting to know our way around (Espresso 77 is a favorite stop in Queens). Still, it's a massive city and I've often depended on my iPhone for walking directions. As I explained above, that's good and bad.

Since 2009, Ten One Design has held the Pogo Art Contest. No, it has nothing to do with the classic comic strip, but has everything to do with Ten One's Pogo line of iPhone and iPad styluses. The art contest is now open for entries, and digital artists have until August 31 to submit their works.

Caturday: Casey, feline commander of the iMac!

It's all in the timing. Sometimes we Mac-loving cat toys catch our furry buddies in the act of doing something that looks so human... In this case, Casey looks like he's checking out settings to make sure they're correct, but he's actually more interested in a fly that's landed on top of the iMac. Here's the scoop from Casey's loving human, Maryann Trozzo:

Siri and calling emergency services

Why does telling Siri to charge your phone call the police? Look to India.

Earlier today The Verge pointed out that, if you use an iPhone to tell Siri, "Charge my phone to 100 percent," it will attempt to call emergency services (giving you a five-second grace period to cancel the call). This is true. DO NOT try it, as the police dislike being summoned to your home for no reason. Some have suggested that this behavior is a bug, while others guess that Apple has created a covert way to summon the authorities, should the caller be in a dangerous situation. That's clever, but I don't think that's what's going on.
