<p>The interwebz have been abuzz all week about the new Apple re-commitment to the pro market; today we discuss a few rumors and ideas. By the way, there will NOT be an AWT News Update on Friday, April 7th due to other commitments.</p><ul><li>Apparently Apple's planned 2018 Mac Pro has only been in development for a few weeks, and a lot of the sudden interest in the pro market appears to have been generated by a poor "pro" response to the 2017 MacBook Pro with Touch Bar</li><li>Our readers have sent some ideas for a new Mac mini, and we replied with some ideas of our own</li><li>Move over GIPHY Says; Apple's Clips app has just arrived</li></ul>

<p>I'm beginning to think that there are some real advantages to the "Internet of Things". Just last night I was getting ready to cook a pasta dish, took some garlic out of the crisper bin, and was disgusted to see that it was quite green and fuzzy. Spoilage is a bad thing, as is not knowing when you're running out of items in your refrigerator. A new smart device from Smarter called the <a target="_blank" href="http://smarter.am" rel="noopener noreferrer">FridgeCam</a> (US$149, available for pre-order) wants to take your old fridge and turn it into much more than just a hiding place for fuzzy garlic.</p>

<p>Rumors are always suspect, especially when they're from a blog that few have heard about. But when those rumors coincide with what we'd all like to see and they're from a site that has a track record of finding references to unreleased Macs with macOS versions...well, they're worth spreading around. That's the case with a rumor from <a target="_blank" href="https://pikeralpha.wordpress.com/2017/04/05/imac181-with-xeon-e3-1280-v6-processor/" rel="noopener noreferrer">Pike's Universum</a>, which cites a "little bird" that is "usually pretty accurate" as the source for details about the expected Pro-level iMacs that Apple hinted at early in the week.</p>

<p>Today's news update is a bit longer than usual, but that's because there was a lot of fascinating Apple news to let you all know about:</p><ul><li>YouTube Live debuts in five US cities, and Google will even throw in a free Chromecast to get you excited</li><li>AT&T is giving away free HBO subscriptions to those who are subscribers to its Unlimited Plus plan</li><li>Another car manufacturer will debut a CarPlay-compatible car at the NY International Auto Show next week</li><li>Apple has added a second manufacturer for Apple Watches</li><li>Some interesting patent filings point towards a more secure future for Siri</li></ul>

Checklists are a wonderful way to organize tasks and then make sure they've been accomplished, and the Notes app on the iPhone is a handy tool for keeping track of those tasks as soon as they're completed. <p>This week's iOS 10.3.1 update might have seemed anticlimactic by comparison to the original 10.3 update, but a quick look at the <a target="_blank" href="https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT207688" rel="noopener noreferrer">security notes issued for the update</a> shows a very good reason why every owner of an iOS device running 10.3 should install the new update immediately.</p>
