Silk cases for iPhone X: A preview of half-dozen cases for the hottest iPhone

You've got to feel sorry for case manufacturers, who were kept in the dark up until a few days before the September 12 iPhone X reveal as to the true name of the product. Fortunately, most of the companies that have already created iPhone X cases have bounced right back by re-labeling the products. Silk, the company that refers to itself tongue-in-cheek as making "smartish products" went the fun route and sent their review iPhone X cases (marked as iPhone 8 cases...) with stickers that said "J/K, we meant for iPhone X". Today we're taking a look at these cases, which as fate would have it are available well in advance of the actual phone.

Blocs 2 for Mac: Build professional-looking websites without coding

Creating a website sounds easy until you actually try it. While some tools make it simple to create sites, they don't necessarily have all of the features you may want on a trendy website. For true flexibility, you might have to hand-code a site with HTML5 and CSS. That's where Blocs 2 for Mac comes in: It's a website building app with plenty of features that can be added by simply dragging a "bloc" to the location on a page where you want it. We have Blocs 2 for Mac available at 50 percent off -- only $39.99.

How to Prepare Wi-Fi Networks for Smart Devices

It is estimated by research firm IHS that the IoT market will grow from an installed base of 15.4 billion devices in 2015 to 30.7 billion devices in 2020 and 75.4 billion in 2025. Our washing machines, coffee pots, thermostats, lights, probably even the toilet and the kitchen sink will all be hooked up to our home Wi-Fi networks. While this will likely lead to more convenience when it comes to home management and maintenance it will also create bottlenecks on home networks slowing down your smart phone, tablet and laptops.

In case you missed it, macOS High Sierra release date is September 25

In all of the excitement about yesterdays announcements, one product line was totally ignored -- the Mac. That's not surprising, as the company has had other events this year to highlight the Mac and macOS High Sierra. While we know that iOS 11, tvOS 11 and watchOS 4 are launching on September 19, it took a bit of searching to find out when macOS High Sierra would finally ship. That date? September 25.

Trello gets a native Mac app

Whenever I have a somewhat complex project to keep track of, I don't reach for one of those traditional critical path method tools -- instead, I fire up Trello. It's free for individuals, and thanks to a very simple card-based user interface for tasks, it's easy for anyone to take a project and break it into workable tasks, then keep track of progress. Today Trello released a native Mac app, meaning that Mac users can avoid the browser-based version.

iOS App Store on the Mac? You don’ need no steenkin’ iOS App Store on the Mac!

Today's update to iTunes 12.7 on the Mac had some significant changes that could be a surprise to unsuspecting Mac users who are used to using iTunes to browse the iOS App Store, since it is now gone. That's right; if you want to browse and install iOS apps, you're going to do it from your iOS device now. This isn't much of a help to bloggers, who often need to grab links and then paste them into posts...on the Mac.
