<p class="">Save the Children International <a href="https://www.savethechildren.org/us/about-us/media-and-news/2020-press-releases/angela-ahrendts-new-board-chair-of-save-the-children-international" target="_blank" rel="noopener">has announced</a> that former Apple exec, Angela Ahrendts, has been appointed as the new chair of its Board of Trustees. She will be the first independent Chair from outside Save the Children to hold a seat on the SCI/SCA Board.</p>

<p class="">A grand jury has issued <a href="https://www.sccgov.org/sites/da/newsroom/newsreleases/Documents/2020NRDocs/CCW%20Indictments%20-%20Sung.pdf" target="_blank" rel="noopener">two indictments </a>charging the Santa Clara County Undersheriff, a previously indicted sheriff’s captain, a local business owner, and the head of Global Security for Apple, with bribery, <a href="https://www.sccgov.org/sites/da/newsroom/newsreleases/Pages/NRA2020/CCW-Undersheriff-Sung-.aspx" target="_blank" rel="noopener">according</a> to the Santa Clara Office of the District Attorney.</p>

<p class="">Apple is preparing to adopt OLED screens for its iPad Pro tablets launching in the last half of 2021, according to <a href="http://www.thelec.net/news/articleView.html?idxno=1902" target="_blank" rel="noopener">TheElec</a>. The first iPad Pro update in the first half of next year will see the tablets using direct backlight LCD panels, the article adds.</p>

<p class="">Starting Oct. 30, you could begin signing up for the Apple One bundle of services. I did so with the idea of consolidating the individual services to which I subscribed (Apple TV+, Apple Music, Apple News+, and Apple Arcade) into one package and setting up Family Sharing. But, to says the least, it’s not going as smoothly as I’d like.</p>

<p class="">Apple has announced its <a href="https://www.apple.com/shop/gifts/shopping-event" target="_blank" rel="noopener">annual four-day shopping event</a>, which starts Friday and offers up to a US$150 Apple Store gift card with the purchase of select products between Black Friday and Cyber Monday in the U.S.</p>

<p class="">I’m hoping that Apple will finally get around to making external displays that those of us (which is most of us) who can’t afford an US$5,000 <a href="https://appleworld.dreamhosters.com/blog/2020/5/26/apple-pro-display-xdr-named-one-of-the-displays-of-the-year?rq=XDR"><span style="text-decoration:underline">Apple Pro Display XDR </span></a>when it unveils a 16-inch MacBook Pro sporting the well-received M1 processor. (I expect such a super-sized laptop to arrive next spring.)</p>

<p class="">The board of Pegatron, Apple’s second largest contract manufacturer, has approved an initial investment of approximately US $150 million (Rs 1100 crore) for building manufacturing facilities in India, reports India's <a href="https://telecom.economictimes.indiatimes.com/news/pegatron-board-oks-initial-150-mln-investment-in-india-report/79352160" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Economic Times</a>.</p>

<p class="">Apple has been granted another patent for an “Apple Ring” and/or an “Apple Glove.” It’s one of the tech giant’s dozens of patents for such inventions that could control Macs and “Apple Glasses,” an augmented reality head-mounted display.</p>
