<p>iOS 11 is installed on 10.01% of compatible devices 24 hours after launch, according to data from Mixpanel (as noted by <em><a target="_blank" href="http://MacRumors.com" rel="noopener noreferrer">MacRumors.com</a></em>). Sounds good, but the analytics company says it’s seeing slower adoption rates than iOS 10 saw during the same adoption period in 2016.</p>

<p>Rosenblatt analyst Jun Zhang <a target="_blank" href="https://www.streetinsider.com/Analyst+Comments/Apple+%28AAPL%29+iPhone+8+Preorders+are+Weak+-+Rosenblatt/13313354.html" rel="noopener noreferrer">tells clients that</a> pre-orders for the iPhone 8 have come in well below the iPhone 7 and iPhone 6. Pre-orders started on Sept. 15 and the first models are due to arrive this Friday.</p>

<p><a target="_blank" href="https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT208086" rel="noopener noreferrer">Apple says that</a> Bluetooth and Wi-Fi aren’t fully disabled when turned off in the iOS 11Control Center. </p>

<p>Initial testing suggests that AirPlay 2 isn’t currently enabled in iOS 11, tvOS 11 or both, according to <a target="_blank" href="http://appleinsider.com/articles/17/09/20/apples-airplay-2-not-currently-functional-in-ios-11-devices-connected-to-tvos-11" rel="noopener noreferrer">AppleInsider</a>. Hopefully, it will be added soon in operating system updates — along with other promised-but-missing features such as Apple Pay Cash (for iOS 11 and watchOS 4).</p>

<p>Early reviewers for publications including <em>The Verge</em> and <a target="_blank" href="https://www.wsj.com/articles/apple-watch-series-3-review-untethered-and-unreliable-1505905203" rel="noopener noreferrer"><em>The Wall Street Journal</em></a><em> </em>have<em> </em>expressed connectivity issues with the Apple Watch Series 3, which will be available this Friday. Apple has issued a statement about the issue to <a target="_blank" href="https://www.theverge.com/2017/9/20/16337874/apple-watch-lte-connectivity-problems-software-update" rel="noopener noreferrer"><em>The Verge</em></a>:</p>

<p><a target="_blank" href="http://us.enbluetec.com" rel="noopener noreferrer">Enblue Technology</a> has introduced the EVOLUS 3 Qi, a multi-docking station with wireless charging, for the new iPhone 8 and iPhone X. It will charge the iPad and Apple Watch, as well.</p>

<p>Promise Technology is shipping its newest personal storage device, the Apollo Cloud 2 Duo, which is available in Apple stores. With enhanced iOS 11 features and no monthly or yearly fees, it gives Apple users the ability to store important data off the Internet onto a secure personal cloud, with all transactions encrypted.</p>

<p>Apple has always gone its own way, so I don’t expect to see a curved screen iMac or Thunderbolt Display anytime soon. However, according to the International Data Corporation (IDC) <a target="_blank" href="http://www.idc.com/tracker/showproductinfo.jsp?prod_id=82" rel="noopener noreferrer">Worldwide Quarterly PC Monitor Tracker</a>, there’s increasing interest in such products. </p>

<p>How’s your social life? Apple wants to make it even better, and has been granted a patent (number 9,769,107) for “lifestyle-based social groups.”</p>

<p>Apple’s new iPhone X, which goes on sale in October, will sport cutting-edge facial recognition technology. While its Face ID technology may attract consumers, some observers have expressed concerns about the brave new world such an offering would usher in. </p>

<p>In a note to clients — as noted by <a target="_blank" href="http://appleinsider.com/articles/17/09/19/all-2018-iphones-likely-to-adopt-face-id-biometrics-nix-touch-id" rel="noopener noreferrer">AppleInsider</a> — KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo predicts that, if Face ID on the iPhone X is a hit, we’ll see it replacing Touch ID on future iPhones and iPads. If it’s not a big hit, expect to see iOS devices sporting Face ID and Touch ID. He also expects the TrueDepth camera of the iPhone X in all future iOS gadgets. </p>

<p>Apple has tweaked its <a target="_blank" href="https://developer.apple.com/news/?id=09192017b" rel="noopener noreferrer">App Store polic</a>y, allowing users to download apps up to 150 megabytes in size when connected to a cellular network.</p>
