<p>I really want to see a new iMac announced at next week's Apple Worldwide Developer Conference and be available immediately. However, I suspect the next gen all-in-one won’t ship until September. If so, a high-end model could sport Intel Coffee Lake processors.</p>

<p>According to a new forecast from the International Data Corporation (<a href="http://www.idc.com/">IDC</a>) <a target="_blank" href="http://www.idc.com/tracker/showproductinfo.jsp?prod_id=37" rel="noopener noreferrer">Worldwide Quarterly Mobile Phone Tracker</a>, worldwide smartphone shipments are expected to rebound slightly in 2017 with expected growth of 3% over the previous year. And things are looking good for Apple's iPhone.</p>

<p>As noted by <a target="_blank" href="http://www.macrumors.com" rel="noopener noreferrer">MacRumors</a>, Apple has updated its <a target="_blank" href="https://www.apple.com/shop/buy-mac/macbook-pro/15-inch" rel="noopener noreferrer">online store</a> to indicate that 15-inch MacBook Pro orders are now estimated for free delivery between June 5-8 in the U.S. This makes sense, as new laptops are predicted to be unveiled at next week's Apple Worldwide Developer Conference.</p>

<p>Apple is at least considering a head-mounted display (HMD) for augmented reality (AR) purposes, as evidenced by a newly granted patent (number 9,667,954). It involves a device and techniques for projecting a source image in a HMD having a left and a right display for projecting a left and right images viewable by the left and right eyes.</p>

<p>Apple has hired Qualcomm Engineering Vice President Esin Terzioglu as a wireless “System-on-a-Chip” lead, offering more evidence that the company may plan to expand its internal chip development into Broadband Processors working as mobile modems, reports <a target="_blank" href="http://appleinsider.com/articles/17/05/29/apple-hires-8-year-qualcomm-engineering-vp-to-its-wireless-soc-team" rel="noopener noreferrer">AppleInsider.</a></p>

<p>Apple is developing a chip made solely for artificial intelligence (AI), according to <a target="_blank" href="https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2017-05-26/apple-said-to-plan-dedicated-chip-to-power-ai-on-devices" rel="noopener noreferrer">Bloomberg</a>, quoting an unnamed “person familiar with the matter.”</p>

<p>The “iPhone 8” — pictured in fanciful mock-ups — could ship after Sept. 17, according to a memo sent to AppleCare workers, as noted by <a target="_blank" href="http://appleinsider.com/articles/17/05/26/apple-staff-blackout-dates-hint-at-iphone-8-launch-post-sept-17" rel="noopener noreferrer">AppleInsider</a>.</p>

<p>Apple has updated iMovie, the (respectively) consumer and pro versions of its video editing software. Both upgrades are available via the Mac App Store.</p>
