<p>Apple has filed for a patent (number 9,761,927) for a “battery case with supplemental antenna features” for the iPhone. It involves a removable case for use with the smartphone.</p>

<p>A survey of three dozen Asian companies that supply Apple shows shipments are already way up. "Initial launch volumes are up 10-15% year over year," <a target="_blank" href="http://www.longbowresearch.com" rel="noopener noreferrer">Longbow Research</a> says in a note to clients.</p>

<p>In a note to clients — as noted by <a target="_blank" href="http://www.macrumors.com" rel="noopener noreferrer"><em>MacRumors</em></a> — KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo says Apple won’t introduce its own wireless charging accessory for the new iPhones that will almost certainly debut today. </p>

<p>Apple is apparently testing whether the Apple Watch can detect cardiac abnormalities. The company is working on the tests with partners including Stanford and telemedicine company American Well, reports <a target="_blank" href="https://www.cnbc.com/2017/09/11/apple-watch-caridac-arrhythmia-tests-stanford-american-well.html" rel="noopener noreferrer"><em>Reuters</em></a>, according to two unnamed “people familiar with the matter.”</p>

<p>In anticipation of Apple unveiling its 10th anniversary iPhone models later today, <a target="_blank" href="http://www.trendforce.com/membership/display?utm_medium=Website%20BackGround&utm_source=PR_News_20170912&utm_campaign=iPhone_Announce_20170912&utm_content=PR_News" rel="noopener noreferrer">TrendForce</a> predicts that the global smartphone production volume for 2017 will reach around 1.4 billion units, representing an annual increase of 4.8%. The market intelligence firm forecasts that global production volume of iPhone devices (including all previous models) for 2017 will total around 227.5 million units, representing an annual increase of 5.6%.</p>

<p><a target="_blank" href="http://www.latenightsw.com/" rel="noopener noreferrer">Late Night Software</a> recently revved Script Debugger, its AppleScript authoring environment for the Mac, to version 6.0.5. It’s a maintenance release that addresses a series of issues that came to light following the release of Script Debugger 6.0. The tweaks make a good app even better. And Late Night Software seems to love AppleScript more than Apple does.</p>

<p>Other World Computing is now shipping new orders of the $299 <a target="_blank" href="http://sable.madmimi.com/c/71191?id=2110298.7256.1.9d35e7db5de6653e17d885ee527e71c0" rel="noopener noreferrer">Thunderbolt 3 Dock</a>, which sports 13 ports. It provides connectivity through an included Thunderbolt 3 cable, delivering power to laptops and other devices. </p>

<p>Apple places number three on <em>Fortune</em> magazine’s <a target="_blank" href="http://fortune.com/change-the-world/" rel="noopener noreferrer">“Change the World” list</a>.  JPMorgan Chase and DSM are ahead of the tech giant on the list.</p>

<p>KGI Securities Ming-Chi Kuo <a target="_blank" href="https://www.cnbc.com/2017/09/11/iphone-x-kgi-says-apple-only-building-10000-a-day.html" rel="noopener noreferrer">expects</a> Apple's premium iPhone model — likely to be dubbed the “iPhone X” — to have “severe short supply for a while.”</p>
