Strategy Analytics: Apple is in second place when it comes to AI-powered smartphones

<p>According to the latest research from Strategy Analytics, <a target="_blank" href="https://www.strategyanalytics.com/access-services/devices/mobile-phones/emerging-devices/market-data/report-detail/smartphone-artificial-intelligence-technologies-global-forecast-2010-to-2022#.We35dnb_phE" rel="noopener noreferrer">one out of every three smartphones sold worldwide this year</a> will use artificial intelligence (AI) to power virtual assistants. The research group says that Google leads in AI-powered smartphones (45.9%) with Apple’s iPhone a close second (41.1%) — for now.</p>

Checkout.com brings Apple Pay to its customers in the UAE

<p>Checkout.com, an international online payments company, says it will bring Apple Pay to its customers in the UAE. Already offered in Europe for Checkout.com customers, Apple Pay is now available in the UAE (United Arab Emirates), the first country in the Middle East to accept the mobile payment system.</p>

Apple reportedly buys InVisage (or at least lures away some of their employees)

<p>Apple has acquired or at least hired some talent away from <a target="_blank" href="http://www.invisage.com/" rel="noopener noreferrer">InVisage</a>, a developer of QuantumFilm camera sensors, according to <a target="_blank" href="http://image-sensors-world.blogspot.ca/2017/10/invisage-acquired-by-apple.html" rel="noopener noreferrer"><em>Image Sensors World</em></a> (as noted by<em> </em><a target="_blank" href="http://MacRumors.com" rel="noopener noreferrer"><em>MacRumors.com</em></a>), citing two unnamed sources. The article claims the deal was finalized in July. </p>

Apple hires former BBC and Channel 4 exec, Jay Hunt

<p>Apple has brought on board BBC and Channel 4 executive Jay Hunt, the company’s first high-profile broadcasting executive hire outside of the U.S., the <em>Financial Times</em> <a target="_blank" href="https://www.ft.com/content/cf217f08-b926-11e7-8c12-5661783e5589?mhq5j=e5" rel="noopener noreferrer">reports</a>. She will start at Apple in January 2018 and be part of the team with a $1 billion budget for original content creation, the article adds. </p>

LG Display’s financial report hints at strong iPhone 8/8 Plus sales

Apple scoops up PowerbyProxi, a wireless power company
