<p>Apple has bought Auckland technology company PowerbyProxi, an Auckland, New Zealand tech company, for an undisclosed sum, according to a <a target="_blank" href="https://www.stuff.co.nz/technology/98190457/apple-buys-nzs-powerb-proxi" rel="noopener noreferrer"><em>Stuff</em> report</a>. Apple engineering chief Dan Riccio says the "team will be a great addition as Apple works to create a wireless future,” the article adds. </p>

<p>Apple says it will have a limited supply of iPhone X models for walk-in customers on Friday, Nov. 3, at 8 a.m. local time. If supply is as limited as I suspect, you might want to camp out in front of your local store — today!</p>

<p>In case you simply can’t get enough predictions on how many iPhone X units Apple will sell,<em> </em><a target="_blank" href="https://asia.nikkei.com/Business/Companies/Apple-to-settle-for-half-its-planned-iPhone-X-shipments-this-year" rel="noopener noreferrer"><em>Nikkei Asian Review</em></a> — quoting unnamed sources — predicts that only 20 million models of the next gen iPhone will ship this year. That’s about half of what was planned. the article says.</p>

<p>Apple has been granted a patent (number 9,799,139) for “accurate image alignment to a 3D model.” It involves the company’s ARKit and 3D maps of street-level images.</p>

<p><a target="_blank" href="http://www.albertsons.com" rel="noopener noreferrer">Albertsons Companies</a> has announced that Apple Pay is now available in all banners and more than 2,300 stores nationwide. </p>

<p>As noted at Apple's developer <a target="_blank" href="https://developer.apple.com/news/?id=10232017a" rel="noopener noreferrer">webpage</a>, Apple Pay has gone “live” in Denmark, Finland, Sweden and the United Arab Emirates. This brings the number of supported countries to 20. </p>

<p>You can take a Live Photo during a FaceTime call with macOS High Sierra. Just clickand the Live Photo is saved to your Photos app. The Live Photos feature of recent iPhones is a lot of fun. It captures 1.5 seconds of movement surrounding a 12-megapixel still image (think the “moving newspaper" photos in the Harry Potter films).</p>

<p>Qoppa Software's <a target="_blank" href="http://www.qoppa.com/" rel="noopener noreferrer">PDF Studio 12</a> is a solid update of its all-in-one PDF editing software for macOS. The latest version adds features including PDF Imposition, Scanning Configuration, Excel to PDF Conversion, Page Resize, and 4K Display Support.</p>

<p>Apple spent $1.86 million in lobbying expenditures in the third quarter of 2017, a 74% increase from $1.07 million from the same period in 2016, according to a new report from <a target="_blank" href="http://www.consumerwatchdog.com" rel="noopener noreferrer">Consumer Watchdog</a>, a nonprofit organization dedicated “to providing an effective voice for taxpayers and consumers in an era when special interests dominate public discourse, government and politics.”</p>

<p>New York City’s transit system is replacing the MetroCard with the ability for passengers to pay with mobile payment systems such as Apple Pay, reports <a target="_blank" href="https://www.nytimes.com/2017/10/23/nyregion/metrocard-subway-new-york.html?_r=0" rel="noopener noreferrer"><em>The New York Times</em></a>.</p>

<p><em><a target="_blank" href="http://www.digitimes.com/news/a20171023PD201.html)" rel="noopener noreferrer">DigiTimes</a> </em>reports that Apple suppliers are preparing the AMD Radeon Pro Vega cards that will power the graphics on the iMac Pro, which is due in December. Buyers will have an option to choose between the Vega 56 or 64, which have 8GB and 16GB of HBM2 memory, respectively, the article adds. </p>
