Analyst: the 2017 will have a glass casing and wireless charging

<p>In a note to clients — as noted by <a target="_blank" href="http://www.macrumors.com" rel="noopener noreferrer">MacRumors</a> — KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo says the 2017 iPhone will sport a glass casing with wireless charging. Previously, he has said this was “likely.” Now he’s apparently convinced it’s going to happen.</p>

Federal Circuit denies Samsung’s bid for a rehearing in the ongoing legal battle with Apple

<p>The Federal Circuit issued a “quick shutdown” Monday of Samsung’s bid for a rehearing of the full court’s October decision reinstating a jury’s $120 million patent infringement verdict in favor of Apple, shrugging off Samsung’s contention the ruling had been “extraordinary,” reports the <a target="_blank" href="http://www.law360.com" rel="noopener noreferrer">Law360 website.</a></p>

ACCC denies Australian banks the authorization to collectively negotiate access to Apple Pay’s NFC tech

Apple has a 66% share of the high end smartphone market in India

<p>Apple had a 66% share of the high end smartphone market in India as of October, as shipments of iPhone 7 and 7 Plus outdid those of Samsung Galaxy S7 and other variants, according to new data from Counterpoint Research — as noted by the <a target="_blank" href="http://tech.economictimes.indiatimes.com/news/mobile/googles-pixel-captures-10-premium-smartphone-market-share-in-india/55659473" rel="noopener noreferrer">Economic Times</a>. Samsung had a 23% share, notes the research group.</p>

Apple’s iPad maintains its tablet leadership in Western Europe

<p>According to figures published by International Data Corporation (IDC), 8.2 million tablets were shipped into Western Europe in the third quarter of 2016 (3Q16), for a 6.7% decline year-over-year (YoY). The main trends in the quarter were the ongoing expansion of detachables (IDC considers the iPad Pro a detachable) and the penetration of tablets in the commercial segment.</p>
