<p>Apple has been <a target="_blank" href="https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2017-12-22/apple-sanctioned-in-qualcomm-ftc-case-for-withholding-documents" rel="noopener noreferrer">ordered to pay $25,000</a> each day it fails to produce evidence related to an FTC case against Qualcomm. U.S. Magistrate Judge Nathanael Cousins says the tech giant has until Dec. 29 to turn in the documents or the amount will increase (the fine started Dec. 16)</p>
<p>In a note to clients — as noted by <a target="_blank" href="https://uk.finance.yahoo.com/news/apple-morgan-stanley-apos-top-133700587.html" rel="noopener noreferrer"><em>Yahoo! Finance</em></a> — Morgan Stanley analyst Katy Huberty — says that the iPhone X is not just pushing current Apple customers in China to adopt the high-end, pricey phone, but is even causing people to switch away from different brands.</p>
<p>Apple has been hit with another lawsuit regarding its throttling of older iPhones to, per the tech giant, conserve battery life. five customers have filed a federal lawsuit in Chicago against the tech giant for what they’re calling “deceptive, immoral and unethical” practices that violate consumer protection laws, reports the <a target="_blank" href="https://chicago.suntimes.com/news/apple-sued-in-chicago-for-slowing-down-older-iphones/" rel="noopener noreferrer"><em>Chicago Sun Times</em></a>. </p>
<p>Apple’s Beats Electronics won a $7.9 million jury verdict meant to compensate the audio products unit for the legal fees it paid in defeating a $1 billion fraud suit from Monster LLC, reports <a target="_blank" href="https://www.law360.com/technology/articles/997448/jury-awards-7-9m-in-fees-to-apple-unit-over-fraud-suit?nl_pk=ade0cf2b-ea3f-464b-bc93-d8e19277ac63&utm_source=newsletter&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=technology" rel="noopener noreferrer"><em>Law360</em></a>.</p>

<p>Let the Apple Car rumors recommence. Apple has filed for a patent (number 20170353430) for an “autonomous navigation system,” which will doubtless review rumors of an Apple-branded vehicle (something I’m dubious about; more on that in a moment).</p>
