<p>Apple has announced that iTunes U collections are moving from iTunes U to the Podcasts app on your iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, or Apple TV, or the Podcasts section of iTunes on your Mac or PC.</p>

<p>A group including Western Digital is <a target="_blank" href="http://www.reuters.com/article/us-toshiba-accounting-apple/western-digital-seeks-y50-billion-from-apple-to-help-finance-toshiba-chip-bid-kyodo-idUSKCN1BJ0QC?feedType=RSS&feedName=businessNews" rel="noopener noreferrer">seeking</a> around ¥50B (about US$464 million) from Apple to help finance a bid for Toshiba’s memory chip unit, the <em>Kyodo</em> news agency reports.</p>

<p>Apple has filed for a patent (number 20170256110) for “electronic device operating using remote user biometrics” that talks of aSiri Remote for the Apple TV that sports Touch ID or some sort of biometric identification. It also hints at smart home devices with such tech.</p>

<p>Yesgo says its shockproof cases for the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus are the thinnest around. I can’t vouch for that, and they’re wider than some (more on that later), but they are quite svelte and are a steal at the price (you can get ‘em at <a target="_blank" href="https://www.amazon.com/iphone-7-plus-case/dp/B072V5MZW2" rel="noopener noreferrer">Amazon</a> for about $13).</p>

<p>Samsung saw its share of China's smartphone market drop in the second quarter, while Apple claimed the top spot. According to the Korea International Trade Association (KITA), Chinese customers owned 48 million Samsung cellphones as of the end of June, while 171 million owned iPhones.</p>

<p>Bernstein analyst Tony Sacconaghi tells <a target="_blank" href="https://www.cnbc.com/2017/09/07/bernstein-tony-sacconaghi-on-iphone-8-delay.html" rel="noopener noreferrer">CNBC</a> that the rumored delay for the upcoming “iPhone 8” could push customers towards a different device. <a target="_blank" href="https://www.wsj.com/articles/iphones-summer-production-glitches-create-holiday-jitters-1504801636" rel="noopener noreferrer"><em>The Wall Street Journal </em>claims</a> multiple production issues could push availability of the next ten smartphone back “about a month.”</p>

<p>finder.com, a personal finance comparison website with over three million users worldwide, has shared research with <em>Apple World Today</em> with some interesting stats about iPhones to celebrate the upcoming release of the “iPhone 8.” </p>

<p>Do you run with your iPhone? If so, at some point, the Apple smartphone may serve as as strobe light to alert others of your presence, especially if you’re exercising in conditions with little lighting.</p>

<p>Avira has introduced the new Free Security Suite for Mac. It’s “the world’s first free security package for Mac users that combines security and privacy features into a single suite at no cost,” according to Alexander Vukcevic, director of Avira Protection Services.</p>

<p>Logitech has announced <a target="_blank" href="http://cts.businesswire.com/ct/CT?id=smartlink&url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.logitech.com%2Fnews%2FCircle2&esheet=51679779&newsitemid=20170907005419&lan=en-US&anchor=Circle+2&index=1&md5=671757a672934241eaa0c8fba3ee744f" rel="noopener noreferrer">Circle 2</a><strong> </strong>Wired home security cameras and mounts now work with Apple’s HomeKit. HomeKit is a framework that allows control of compatible home automation devices through iOS and Siri.</p>

<p>Taiwan-based Apple supplier Foxconn is pressing for a deal that would give it 25% of Toshiba's chip manufacturing business with Apple controlling 20% of the equity, according to <a target="_blank" href="https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2017-09-07/foxconn-details-plans-to-buy-toshiba-unit-with-apple-softbank" rel="noopener noreferrer"><em>Bloomberg</em>.</a></p>

<p>Apple’s <a target="_blank" href="http://developer.apple.com" rel="noopener noreferrer">Developer Center</a> down for a while on Wednesday, and many feared it was due to a hacker attack. Many accounts had profile information changed to a Russian address.</p>

<p>Following <a target="_blank" href="https://appleworld.dreamhosters.com/blog/2017/9/6/analyst-samsung-is-the-sole-supplier-of-oled-screens-for-the-upcoming-iphone-8" rel="noopener noreferrer">reports </a>that Samsung could be the sole supplier of OLED displays for the upcoming “iPhone 8,” <a target="_blank" href="https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2017-09-07/apple-lg-said-to-discuss-oled-deal-for-supplies-starting-2019" rel="noopener noreferrer"><em>Bloomberg</em> reports</a> that Apple will have to wait until at least 2019 to have another source for the displays.</p>
