<p>Every time you open a file on your hard drive, you Mac uses some memory. That makes things operate quickly, but, over time, residual files (think junk) can just lounge around in the RAM, making your Mac a bit sluggish -- sort of like I feel after a Thanksgiving dinner at Mom's.</p>

<p>Apple has hired Scott Seviour, a former vice president at Epic Records, “who could help Apple Music double down on streaming exclusives,” according to <a target="_blank" href="http://www.businessinsider.com/apple-hires-scott-seviour-epic-records-2016-9" rel="noopener noreferrer">Business Insider</a>. </p>

<p>In celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month, <em><a target="_blank" href="https://www.cnet.com/news/cnet-en-espanol-the-20-most-influential-latinos-in-tech-of-2016/" rel="noopener noreferrer">CNET en Español</a> </em><em>has </em>announced its list of the top 20 most influential Latinos in U.S. technology. This year’s list also includes 18 new executives and a record number of women, as well as Eddy Cue, Senior Vice President of Internet Software and Service at Apple.</p>

<p>Podcasts branded “Spoken Editions,” short-form programs that offer listeners an audio version of the publisher’s written content, are coming to iTunes, reports <a target="_blank" href="https://techcrunch.com/2016/09/23/apples-itunes-soon-to-serve-up-spoken-editions-of-publishers-content/" rel="noopener noreferrer">TechCrunch</a>. That means you could “read” your favorite website or hear the news when you’re doing other things.</p>

<p><a target="_blank" href="http://idevicesinc.com/" rel="noopener noreferrer">iDevices</a> has launched its $499 Smart Home Essentials Kit, an Apple HomeKit and Alexa-enabled system featuring three iDevices <a href="http://store.idevicesinc.com/idevices-socket/">Socket</a>s (connected light bulb adapters), five iDevices <a href="http://idevicesinc.com/switch/">Switch</a>es (indoor connected plugs) and two iDevices <a href="http://idevicesinc.com/outdoor-switch/">Outdoor Switch</a>es (rain-tight connected plugs). </p>

<p>Accesources has introduced <a target="_blank" href="http://www.cheerioapp.com" rel="noopener noreferrer">Cheerio</a> for macOS Sierra, which blocks the loading of advertisements on web pages. </p>

<p>Einstein’s legacy has launched Splitt, a video splicing application developed for macOS. It allows you to cut your movies into an arbitrary number of segments. </p>

<p>Business leaders of PC (as in “personal computer,” not necessarily Windows systems) vendors face a stark choice and must decide between overhauling their businesses or leaving the PC market by 2020, according to <a target="_blank" href="http://www.gartner.com" rel="noopener noreferrer">Gartner, Inc</a>. If they decide to stay, they need to rapidly determine what changes to make or what alternatives to adapt in today's over-penetrated PC market, according to the research group.</p>

<p>The Galaxy Note7 recall put a dent in Samsung consumer confidence, with 34% of current customers saying they won't buy another smartphone from the brand, according to <a target="_blank" href="http://www.brandingbrand.com" rel="noopener noreferrer">Branding Brand</a>, a mobile e-commerce platform. Of these customers, 81% have always owned a Samsung or Android smartphone.</p>

<p>Apple has released iOS 10.0.2. It addresses an issue that could prevent headphone audio controls from temporarily not working.</p>

<p>Apple has <a href="http://www.bgr.in/news/apple-flipkart-partner-for-iphone-7-online-retail-in-india/">partnered with Flipkart</a>, India’s largest e-commerce website, to sell the iPhone 7 and 7 Plus online in that country. They’ll go on sale Oct. 7.</p>

<p>Apple is moving ahead with the development of an Echo-like smart-home device based on the Siri voice assistant, reports <a target="_blank" href="http://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2016-09-23/apple-said-to-step-up-plans-for-echo-style-smart-home-device-itfnod11" rel="noopener noreferrer">Bloomberg</a>, quoting unnamed “people familiar with the matter.”</p>

<p>Japanese regulators are considering taking action against Apple over possible antitrust violations that may have <a href="http://www.reuters.com/article/us-apple-japan-antitrust-idUSKCN11T0Z6?feedType=RSS&feedName=businessNews">helped</a> it dominate the nation's smartphone sales, a move that could hit the company's margins in one of its most profitable markets.</p>

<p>Perhaps it's time for Apple to introduce its own cellular network and make plans for data only cellular towers. When Apple first introduced the first iPhone, some pundits thought our favorite tech company might do just that. </p>
