<p>Apple remained in the fourth position for global market share among personal computer makers and grew its shipments 7.3% in the fourth quarter of 2017, according to IDC The tech giant shipped about 5.8 million Macs during the quarter, per the research group.</p>
<p>As noted by <a target="_blank" href="http://appleinsider.com/articles/18/01/11/apple-features-subscription-apps-offering-free-trials-in-new-app-store-section" rel="noopener noreferrer"><em>AppleInsider</em></a> Apple has added a new section to the Apple App Store that spotlights iOS subscription-based apps that offer free trials to new users.</p>
<p>Apple has published an updated version of its iOS Security Guide White Paper, adding info that covers features introduced in iOS 11.1 and iOS 11.2, like Face ID and Apple Pay Cash. </p>
<p>Apple is working to reverse a Patent Trial and Appeal Board ruling upholding the validity of certain patents owned by VoIP-Pal. <p>Apple Europe has agreed to pay nearly £137 million ($185 million) to the U.K., settling tax claims covering "prior years up to Sept. 16, 2015," according to a filing with the Companies House, as noted by <a target="_blank" href="https://www.law360.com/technology/articles/1001100/apple-europe-to-pay-137-million-to-settle-uk-tax-claims?nl_pk=ade0cf2b-ea3f-464b-bc93-d8e19277ac63&utm_source=newsletter&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=technology" rel="noopener noreferrer"><em>Law360</em></a>.</p>
<p>One of the common complaints about the iMac is that you have to reach behind the display to get to the connectivity ports. Satechi has launched a handy solution in the Aluminum Type-C Clamp Hub. <p>Apple has been granted a patent (number 20180014115) for an “electronic device having mechanically out-of-phase speakers” that hints at even better speakers in upcoming Mac laptops.</p>

<p>A consumer group filing a civil suit against Apple on behalf of over 100 plaintiffs for damages related to a recent software update that slowed down older iPhone models are also considering preparing a criminal case, according to <a target="_blank" href="http://www.koreaherald.com/view.php?ud=20180111000726" rel="noopener noreferrer"><em>The Korea Herald</em></a>.</p>
<p>According to <em><a target="_blank" href="https://www.macrumors.com/2018/01/11/iphone-6-plus-battery-replacements-delay/" rel="noopener noreferrer">MacRumors</a></em>, Apple won’t have iPhone 6 Plus replacement batteries in stock until late March to early April.</p>
<p>International POS printer manufacturer <a target="_blank" href="http://www.Star-EMEA.com" rel="noopener noreferrer">Star Micronics</a> says its upcoming Star TSP654II AirPrint will be the first 80 and 58mm receipt and ticket POS printer on the market to be Apple AirPrint certified. Pricing and availability haven’t been announced. </p>
<p>Apple has filed for a patent dubbed “electronic device with wireless charging and battery heating.” It seems to involve its upcoming AirPower product, which is sometime this year.</p>
<p><a target="_blank" href="https://www.bushel.com" rel="noopener noreferrer">Jamf Now</a>, a device management solution powered by JAMF Software, is a cloud-based solution that makes it easy for "regular people" to set up, manage and protect their Apple devices anytime from anywhere.</p>
<p>macOS High Sierra allows you to focus on apps in full screen or Split View mode (though some third party apps may not support these features). To use an app in full screen mode, in the top-left corner of the app window, click the green button, or press Control-Command-F.</p>
