<p><a target="_blank" href="http://www.twelvesouth.com" rel="noopener noreferrer">Twelve South</a> has launched the HiRise 2, a refined version of its iPhone charging stand. The new model sports a new design, new colors and new functionality. </p>

<p>Apple must pay a subsidiary of Acacia Research Corp, a patent licensing company (some would say, “patent troll”), $22.1 million after a federal jury in Tyler, Texas, found that it had willfully infringed a cellular network-related patent, reports <a target="_blank" href="http://www.reuters.com/article/ip-cce-apple-idUSL2N1BR28V" rel="noopener noreferrer">Reuters</a>.</p>

<p>AirBeamTV has announced Mirror for LG TV 1.0.0 for Mac OS X (10.10 and higher), the latest in a family of screen mirroring apps. It lets you wirelessly mirror the screen of a Mac directly on any LG Smart TV without the need for any additional hardware. </p>

<p>Data from <a target="_blank" href="https://intelligence.slice.com" rel="noopener noreferrer">Slice Intelligence</a> says the first online sales figures (from its database of over four million shoppers) and reports from early shoppers shows the iPhone 7 Plus is more popular than the iPhone 7. </p>

<p>Apple’s iTunes unit in Japan was ordered to pay some 12 billion yen (about $118 million) in tax by local authorities after underreporting income, reports <a target="_blank" href="http://www.reuters.com/article/us-apple-japan-tax-idUSKCN11M09O" rel="noopener noreferrer">Reuters</a>. It’s been paid.</p>

<p>The <a href="http://xqsuperschool.org/challenge">XQ: The Super School Project</a> of Laurene Powell Jobs, the widow of Apple co-founder Steve Jobs, is placing $10 million bets on 10 high schools over the next five years designed to spark experimentation nationwide, reports <a target="_blank" href="http://www.usatoday.com/story/news/2016/09/14/100-million-jobs-widow-aims-remake-schools-high-tech-age/90353636/" rel="noopener noreferrer">USA TODAY.</a> Powell Jobs will be in Washington on Wednesday evening to unveil the 10 lucky schools funded through her charity, <a href="http://www.emersoncollective.com/">The Emerson Collective</a>.</p>
