<p>Angélica Guerra has joined Apple as its new head of Latin American programming for worldwide video, reports <a target="_blank" href="http://variety.com/2018/tv/news/apple-angelica-guerra-head-of-latin-american-programming-1202715429/" rel="noopener noreferrer"><em>Variety</em></a>. She comes from Sony Pictures Television, where she served as senior vice president and managing director of production for Latin America and U.S. Hispanic. </p>

<p>Case-Mate has debuted the Power Pad, a wireless charger with an optional stand included. CEO Steve Marzio says it engages Qi-enabled devices at the highest charging speeds possible, including 7.5W of power for the latest Apple iPhones (iPhone 8, iPhone 8 Plus and iPhone X) and 9W of power for the latest Samsung devices. </p>

<p>As <a target="_blank" href="https://appleworld.dreamhosters.com/blog/2018/1/17/someone-is-attaching-apple-shuttle-buses?rq=buses" rel="noopener noreferrer">reported earlier</a>, charter buses carrying Apple and Google employees during their commutes have come under fire. Now the California Highway Patrol (CHP) is using decoy buses and undercover officers to catch the shooter, and the FBI has also been called in to help the investigation, reports <a target="_blank" href="http://www.businessinsider.com/california-cops-use-decoy-bus-to-catch-apple-bus-shooter-2018-3" rel="noopener noreferrer"><em>Business Insider</em></a>.</p>

<p>President Trump said on Thursday that he would impose stiff tariffs on imports of steel and aluminum, reports <a target="_blank" href="https://www.nytimes.com/2018/03/01/business/trump-tariffs.html" rel="noopener noreferrer"><em>The New York Times</em></a>. If it passes, it could drive up prices on Apple products.</p>

<p>Apple wants to enhance the swimming features of the Apple Watch, as evidenced by two new patent filings. The first (number 20180056129) is for “systems and methods of swimming calorimetry.”</p>

<p>Apple has updated <a target="_blank" href="https://geo.itunes.apple.com/us/app/logic-pro-x/id634148309?mt=12&at=11l3Qo" rel="noopener noreferrer">Logic Pro X</a> — its macOS software for professional songwriting, editing, and mixing — to version 10.4.1. Changes in the maintenance release:</p>

<p>Rogue Amoebahas “retired” its Nicecast app for the Mac. It’s no longer available for purchase, and no further updates are planned. The software allowed you to broadcast music from macOS with an Internet audio broadcaster and server wrapped into one.</p>

<p>To celebrate International Women’s Day, Apple Marché Saint-Germain will open its doors for an evening of inspiration, participation and celebration on March 8, reports <a target="_blank" href="https://onmogul.com/stories/celebrate-international-women-s-day-with-apple" rel="noopener noreferrer"><em>Mogul</em>.</a> The goal is to help participants discover how to express their talents over the course of the evening. </p>

<p>The Mobile Authentication Taskforce, comprised of AT&T, Sprint, T-Mobile and Verizon, reveals product details of the next-generation mobile authentication platform at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona.</p>

<p>As noted by <a target="_blank" href="https://www.cultofmac.com/532063/sarcastic-t-shirts-urge-apple-think-different/" rel="noopener noreferrer"><em>Cult of Mac</em></a>, a company called Throwboy has released a new line of T-shirts urging Apple to “Think Different (again).”</p>

<p>Moby — the electronica artist, not the whale — says he gave Apple the idea for the iPod and iPhone. In a <a target="_blank" href="https://www.theguardian.com/music/2016/may/21/moby-bags-drugs-having-sex-stranger-miranda-sawyer" rel="noopener noreferrer">new interview</a> with <em>The Guardian, </em>he says pushed Apple to make a music player and predicted that they'd put a camera on it one day.</p>

<p>Future AirPods from Apple may be equipped with biometric sensors, as hinted by a new Apple patent (number 2018006321) for “earbuds with compliant member.” Such wearables could track a user’s heart rate, core temperature, and more for exercise and health purposes.</p>

<p><a target="_blank" href="http://www.wipro.com" rel="noopener noreferrer">Wipro</a> — a global information technology, consulting and business process services company — has announced the expansion of its Live Workspace suite of offerings, to support Apple devices. This will allow enterprises to offer their employees a choice when deciding which tools enable them to be more productive, creative and collaborative.</p>
