A geofence is a virtual geographic boundary, defined by GPS or RFID technology, that enables software to trigger a response when a mobile device such as an iPhone or iPad enters or leaves a particular area.</p>

Gordon and Kumail Nanjiani) behind “The Big Sick” and producer/writer Lee Eisenberg, reports <a href="https://www.thewrap.com/apple-orders-little-america-immigrant-anthology-series-big-sick-writers/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer"><em>TheWrap</em></a>.</p>

<p style="white-space: pre-wrap;">Apple CEO Tim Cook is in Cork, Ireland, where he was on hand for the opening of an expansion to the company’s campus in Hollyhill, reports the <a href="http://www.eveningecho.ie/corknews/Apple-CEO-in-Cork-today-to-open-new-Hollyhill-expansion-86b092d5-f436-48d5-bd4d-47601e34bb58-ds" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer"><em>Evening Echo</em></a>. The tech giant has been based in Cork for over 35 years and now directly employs 6,000 people here.</p>

<p style="white-space: pre-wrap;">China accounts for nearly 20% of Apple revenues and the company is “arguably” the most successful U.S. technology firm in China — which means it may be the most vulnerable to a U.S.-China trade war, according to a <a href="https://www.cnbc.com/2018/06/19/apple-is-the-big-tech-firm-most-at-risk-from-a-us-china-trade-war.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer"><em>CNBC</em> report</a>.</p>

<p style="white-space: pre-wrap;">Let the Apple Car rumors continue. Apple has been granted a patent (number 20180164817) for “guidance of autonomous vehicles in destination vicinities using intent signals.”</p>

<p style="white-space: pre-wrap;">Apple has been fined $9 million by Australia’s Federal Court for telling some Australian iPad and iPhone owners they couldn’t have devices fixed as they had been previously repaired by a third party, reports <a href="https://www.smh.com.au/technology/apple-us-fined-9-million-for-misleading-some-australian-customers-20180619-p4zmbi.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer"><em>The Sydney Morning Herald</em></a>.</p>

I've known its founder, John Chaffee, for decades, and I've used his products including Now Up-To-Date and BusyCal for years. He asked me to take a look at his latest work and I'm impressed. </p>

<p style="white-space: pre-wrap;">Apple’s WWDC 2018 is now over and while I was hoping for exciting news regarding Metal and Mac gaming, but quite the opposite happened. Apple announced that with the next version of MacOS, called Mojave, OpenGL will be deprecated. </p>

<p style="white-space: pre-wrap;"><a href="https://www2.deloitte.com/us/en.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Deloitte</a> has integrated its ConvergeHEALTH Patient Connect product with Apple HealthKit, CareKit and ResearchKit frameworks, enabling patients to improve adherence to treatment plans while supporting connectivity to clinical research. ConvergeHEALTH is a group of products engineered and built by Deloitte to enable life sciences clients to respond to the shift to value-based, personalized medicine.</p>

<p style="white-space: pre-wrap;">The worldwide wearables market is forecast to ship 124.9 million units by the end of 2018, up 8.2% from the prior year. And Apple will continue to dominate with the Apple Watch, according to the International Data Corporation (<a href="http://www.idc.com/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">IDC</a>) <a href="http://www.idc.com/tracker/showproductinfo.jsp?prod_id=962" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Worldwide Quarterly Wearable Device Tracker</a>.</p>

<p style="white-space: pre-wrap;">Apple is now selling the HomePod in Canada, France, and Germany. The Siri-enabled speaker is available at Apple's online store and at Apple's retail stores in each country, as well as select authorized resellers (such as Best Buy in Canada). </p>
