Apple’s Lisa Jackson to receive Environmental Achievement Award

<p style="white-space: pre-wrap;">The Environmental Law Institute (ELI) will present its 2018 Environmental Achievement Award to Lisa Jackson, vice president of Apple’s Environment, Policy, and Social Initiatives, on Tuesday, Oct. 23, in Washington, D.C. She’s being recognized for “her visionary leadership and outstanding environmental stewardship over a most distinguished career.”</p>

Apple is testing 55 self-driving vehicles in California

<p style="white-space: pre-wrap;">The California Department of Motor Vehicles <a href="https://9to5mac.com/2018/05/14/apple-autonomous-driving/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">has confirmed</a> that Apple has 55 self-driving vehicles and 83 drivers permitted to test on the state’s roads. The tech giant had about 45 self-driving vehicles in January. </p>

Canal+ to offer the Apple TV 4K as an alternative to a cable box

<p style="white-space: pre-wrap;">Starting May 17, Apple and French cable television company Canal+ <a href="https://venturebeat.com/2018/05/14/apple-and-canal-to-offer-apple-tv-4k-as-alternate-cable-box/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">will offer</a> an Apple TV 4K instead of a traditional cable box to Canal’s 5.2 million subscribers. The deal will cost customers a $7 rental fee.</p>

Analyst: Apple may released brightly colored LCD iPhones this fall

<p style="white-space: pre-wrap;">In a note to clients — as noted by <a href="https://appleinsider.com/articles/18/05/14/iphone-8s-could-bring-back-iphone-5c-color-options-in-the-fall-says-analyst" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">AppleInsider</a> — Rosenblatt Securities analyst Jun Zhang says that Apple could release brightly-colored versions of its 2018 smartphone line-up, reviving the color scheme used in the iPhone 5C in an attempt to make an LCD-equipped model more distinct from the versions using an OLED display. </p>

Security flaws discovered in Apple’s Mail app for macOS, iOS

<p style="white-space: pre-wrap;">As noted by <a href="https://9to5mac.com/2018/05/14/apple-mail-security-flaw-encrypted-email/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer"><em>9to5Mac</em></a>, researchers have found flaws in the HTML rendering of Apple Mail on Mac and iOS, as well as Mozilla Thunderbird, that allows attackers to extract decrypted plain text from encrypted mail messages. The primary issue affecting involves a method that uses multipart responses to exploit HTML rendering issues.</p>

Apple sued over Mac laptop butterfly keyboard failures

<p style="white-space: pre-wrap;">Another day, another lawsuit. As noted by <a href="https://appleinsider.com/articles/18/05/11/apple-hit-with-action-suit-over-macbook-macbook-pro-butterfly-keyboard-failures" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer"><em>AppleInsider</em></a>, a class action lawsuit has been filed in the Northern District Court of California against Apple, alleging a  flawed keyboard design deployed in MacBook models from 2015 on and claiming the company knew about the defect at or before the product's launch. </p>
