<p class="" style="white-space:pre-wrap;">Larry O'Connor, CEO of <a href="https://c212.net/c/link/?t=0&l=en&o=2483950-1&h=3237258632&u=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.owc.com%2F&a=OWC%C2%AE"><span style="text-decoration:underline">OWC</span></a> —a North American producer of solid state drives (SSDs), Thunderbolt external drives, PC & Mac docking solutions and performance upgrade kits —  has issued comments on the May 30, 2019, statement from the White House regarding proposed new tariffs on imports from Mexico.</p>

<p class="" style="white-space:pre-wrap;">Apple has filed for a patent (number 10,303,218) for a “foldable cover and display for an electronic device.” It hints at a foldable iPhone, though the Sellers Research Group (that’s me) is dubious the tech giant will ever release such a smartphone.</p>

<p class="" style="white-space:pre-wrap;">On a regular basis, <em>Apple World Today</em> posts a list of notable new apps or app updates that have been released. They may not necessarily be new, but they're popular and deserve mention. Here are this week’s picks.</p>

<p class="" style="white-space:pre-wrap;">The break-up of iTunes on the Mac has long been rumored, but it’s going to be announced at next week’s Apple Worldwide Developer Conference (WWDC), according to <a href="https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2019-05-31/apple-s-future-ios-13-macos-10-15-watchos-6-tvos-13-mac-pro" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Bloomberg</a>'s Mark Gurman.</p>

<p class="" style="white-space:pre-wrap;">An <a href="https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT208922" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">updated support document</a> from Apple notes that the Back to My Mac service is being removed from all versions of macOS as of July 1.</p>

<p class="" style="white-space:pre-wrap;">Flikflix has teamed up with Atom Tickets, the social movie ticketing platform, to power in-theater movie tickets for the Flikflix App for iOS and tvOS devices. </p>

<p class="" style="white-space:pre-wrap;">Apple is teaming up with Fandango for an Apple Pay promo. Use the mobile payment service with and get $5 off when you buy two or more tickets for <em>Rocketman</em> in the Fandango app or on <a href="https://c.apple.com/r?v=2&la=en&lc=usa&a=CjSCv2V2%2Bb0DwRYoBgYX4Vy%2BfUQVvWkqBOWBNmik8Nrhqm1ihXylkYBH9h%2BGNEVDzFwTpPI3XL3fkZs6ut2ruNqh5tB0rR%2Bz6N1W%2F%2Birvv7QF%2Bb92ez7oNrzeWAW94gE7Yq%2FKtwV3nLhMLfoGltw4w%3D%3D&ct=ab9U7u8Y6C">fandango.com</a> through June 3. </p>

<p class="" style="white-space:pre-wrap;">As noted by <a href="https://9to5mac.com/2019/05/31/apple-iphone-cellular-limit-increased/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer"><em>9to5Mac</em></a>, Apple has increased the cellular download limit for iPhone and iPad that prevents users from downloading large files from Apple’s stores, including apps, games, video podcasts, iTunes Store films and more.</p>

<p class="" style="white-space:pre-wrap;">The $249.95 <a href="https://www.beatsbydre.com/earphones/powerbeats-pro" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Powerbeats Pro</a> from the Apple-owned Beats Inc. are now on sale in the United Kingdom, France, and Germany, as well as the U.S. However, the wireless  earphones are only available in black, and stock seems to be limited. </p>

<p class="" style="white-space:pre-wrap;">If you’re interested in Apple’s Smart Battery Cases for the iPhone XR, XS, and XS Max, you’ll have to wait until July for them to be delivered, according to Apple’s online store. </p>

<p class="" style="white-space:pre-wrap;">Target is recalling some of its "heyday" branded Lightning cables. According to the <a href="https://www.cpsc.gov/Recalls/2019/Target-Recalls-USB-Charging-Cables-Due-to-Shock-and-Fire-Hazards" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">recall notice</a>, the metal around the cord can become electrically charged if it contacts the USB wall charger plug prongs while charging, posing shock and fire hazards.</p>

<p class="" style="white-space:pre-wrap;">Apple has issued an AirPort Base Station firmware update with security fixes for its late, lamented line of routers and backup devices. Both firmware versions can be downloaded and installed via Apple's AirPort Utility on Macs or iOS devices.</p>

<p class="" style="white-space:pre-wrap;">Apple has hired a former Walt Disney exec for its Apple TV+ streaming service, which will debut this fall. According to <a href="https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2019-05-30/apple-hire-of-disney-video-executive-highlights-talent-rivalry" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer"><em>Bloomberg</em></a>, Chiara Cipriani started with Apple as a director of video services in early May.</p>

<p class="" style="white-space:pre-wrap;">Let the Apple Car rumors roll on. Apple has been granted a patent (number 20190164344) for a “system and method for interactive screen projection” for a vehicle.</p>
