News round-up: Apple taking reservations for this summer’s Apple Camp for kids (and more)

<p class="" style="white-space:pre-wrap;">Apple is <a href="https://www.apple.com/today/camp/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">now taking reservations</a> for this summer's free Apple Camp for kids ages eight to 12. It’s a three-day program held at your local Apple retail store. Apple Camp is designed to “broaden their [the kids] creative horizons by making movies, creating interactive books, and more using Apple products.” Campers choose one of three tracks, then spend 90 minutes a day for three days at a local Apple Store immersed in their chosen subject.</p>

Rumor: first 5G iPhone will arrive next year

<p class="" style="white-space:pre-wrap;">In a note to clients — as noted by <a href="https://appleinsider.com/articles/19/06/17/2020-lte-iphone-coming-in-54--and-67-inch-sizes-61-inch-iphone-lte" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer"><em>AppleInside</em>r</a> — analyst Ming-Chi Kuo says Apple release three iPhones next year (as it will this year) with 5.4-inch and 6.7-inch models having 5G, and the 6.1-inch model sticking with LTE.</p>

Apple looking to attract talent for Oscar worthy films

<p class="" style="white-space:pre-wrap;">Apple has been approaching “elevated” directors and other film talent in recent months to talk about bankrolling projects with Oscar-winning potential, reports <a href="https://nypost.com/2019/06/16/apple-wants-to-make-oscar-worthy-movies-to-beef-up-streaming-service/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer"><em>The New York Post</em></a>. Unnamed Hollywood sources say the tech giant is looking to spend $5 million to $30 million per project and release about six films annually.</p>

UAG Nato Strap is a fine Apple Watch band for the outdoorsman

<p class="" style="white-space:pre-wrap;">As I’ve <a href="https://appleworld.dreamhosters.com/blog/2019/5/10/uags-new-apple-watch-straps-are-a-blessing-to-my-bony-wrists?rq=UAGUAG" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">mentioned before,</a> most notched watch bands are either two tight on my bony wrists or else flop around. Apple patent involves an integrated media jukebox/physiologic data handling app

<p class="" style="white-space:pre-wrap;">Apple has been granted a patent (number 10,315,087) for an “integrated media jukebox and physiologic data handling application.” It could offer hints as to how your Mac will interact with your iPhone and other devices when iTunes is broken up into Apple Music, Apple Podcasts, and Apple TV in the upcoming macOS Catalina. The invention especially focuses on exercise tracking features.</p>

AirPods still dominate the wireless hearables market

<p class="" style="white-space:pre-wrap;">The size of the global market for true wireless hearables reached 17.5 million units in quarter one (Q1) of 2019, growing 40% quarter-on-quarter (QoQ), according to the findings of <a href="https://report.counterpointresearch.com/posts/report_view/Emerging_Tech/1257" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Counterpoint Research’s Hearables Market Tracker</a>.
