Forget the AirPower; mophie’s wireless charging solutions step up to the plate

<p class="" style="white-space:pre-wrap;">I had really looked forward to Apple’s AirPower wireless charger, which <a href="https://appleworld.dreamhosters.com/blog/2019/3/29/goodbye-airpower-we-hardly-knew-you-well-actually-we-didnt-know-you?rq=AirPower">turned out to be vaporware</a>. However, mophie has stepped up to the plate with its <a href="https://www.zagg.com/en_us/3-in-1-wireless-charging-pad-apple" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">3-in-1 Wireless Charger</a> and <a href="https://www.zagg.com/en_us/dual-wireless-charging-pad-apple" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Dual Wireless Charging Pad</a>. They’re $139.95 and $79.95, but I prefer the former.</p>

IDC: Apple captures 50.2% of the wearables market in the second quarter

Apple to stream ‘By Innovation Only’ event on YouTube

<p class="" style="white-space:pre-wrap;">Apple will stream one of its special events <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=996wliAI_y4" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">on YouTube</a> for the first time Tuesday. One in five folks surveyed by Strategy Analytics think they already have 5G

Another Apple patent filing hints at gaze detection features for macOS, iOS

<p class="" style="white-space:pre-wrap;">Apple has filed for yet another patent (number 20190272650) — one of a dozen or so — that hints at future iterations of macOS and iOS devices that would allow you to control some user interface elements with your eyes, perhaps in conjunction with the rumored “Apple Glasses,” a head-mounted, augmented reality/virtual reality headset.</p>

Streaming music grew 26% for the first half of 2019

<p class="" style="white-space:pre-wrap;">Revenues from streaming music grew 26% to $4.3 billion for the first half of 2019, according to a new report from the <a href="http://www.riaa.com/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA</a>). In June, Apple Senior Vice President of Internet Software and Services Eddy Cue said Apple Music hit the 60 million subscriber mark.</p>

Bryce Dallas Howard’s ‘Dads’ coming to Apple TV+

<p class="" style="white-space:pre-wrap;">Apple TV+ has acquired worldwide distribution rights to the Bryce Dallas Howard documentary <em>Dads</em>, ahead of its premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival, an individual with knowledge of the project tells <a href="https://www.thewrap.com/apple-bryce-dallas-howard-documentary-dads/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">TheWrap.</a> Apple’s streaming service is due this fall. Pricing hasn’t been announced.</p>

Leaked doc supposedly talks about Siri changes and a new device — in two years!

Apple: iOS security is unmatched

<p class="" style="white-space:pre-wrap;">Last week, Google published a blog about vulnerabilities that Apple fixed for iOS users in February. On its <a href="https://www.apple.com/newsroom/2019/09/a-message-about-ios-security" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Newsroom page</a>, Apple says that “we’ve heard from customers who were concerned by some of the claims, and we want to make sure all of our customers have the facts.”</p>

Analysts: Apple App Store sees high revenue growth

With Apple’s previous stances on privacy, it will be interesting to see how the tech giant responds. </p>

ABI Research: foldable phones, tablets will start gaining traction next year

<p class="" style="white-space:pre-wrap;">I remain dubious that Apple plans a “foldable” iPhone or iPad, but I could be wrong.. Smartphones, tablets, and wearables are all expected to see some form of foldable, flexible, or rollable screen technology over the coming years, as vendors try to shake up the markets and stimulate replacement cycles, according to <a href="https://www.abiresearch.com" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">ABI Research</a>. </p>
