<p class="" style="white-space:pre-wrap;">Well, darn. The 2019 iPhones lack some of the most anticipated new features: no USB-C port, no ProMotion display, no Apple Pencil support. A disappointment, right? Hardly. Though the new Apple smartphones could be more exciting, they have plenty of new features that make ‘em worthy upgrades — at least if you’re on Apple’s <a href="https://www.apple.com/shop/iphone/iphone-upgrade-program" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">iPhone Upgrade Program</a>.</p>

<p class="" style="white-space:pre-wrap;">The <a href="https://www.apple.com/apple-watch-series-5/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Apple Watch Series 5</a> is a great upgrade of Apple’s smartwatch, but it’s not a must-have upgrade for everyone. Still, it’s increasingly independent of the iPhone, which is a good thing, and I really like the Always-On Retina display.</p>

<p class="" style="white-space:pre-wrap;"><a href="https://www.usertesting.com/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">UserTesting</a>, an on-demand human insights platform, reached out to iPhone and Android users across the U.S. to find out their reactions to the new features available on the iPhone 11, iPhone 11 Pro, and iPhone 11 Pro Max and if they’re enough to entice a purchase.</p>

<p class="" style="white-space:pre-wrap;">Apple has been granted a patent (10,417,824) for a “method and system for representing a virtual object in a view of a real environment.” It applies to the company’s augmented reality work on iOS devices and could apply to the rumored “Apple Glasses,” an augmented readily/virtual reality headset expected to debut in 2020 or 2021.</p><p class="" data-rte-preserve-empty="true" style="white-space:pre-wrap;"></p>

<p class="" style="white-space:pre-wrap;">Another day, another two lawsuits. First: handsfree headphone maker Pinn claims that Apple’s AirPods infringe on several of its patents, reports <a href="https://appleinsider.com/articles/19/09/21/apple-sued-over-airpods-recharging-connectivity-patents" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer"><em>AppleInsider</em>.</a></p>

<p class="" style="white-space:pre-wrap;">Let the Apple Car rumors roll on. Apple has been granted a patent (number 10,415,286) for a “hinge with feedback.”</p>

<p class="" style="white-space:pre-wrap;">On a regular basis, <em>Apple World Today </em>posts a list of notable new apps or app updates that have been released. They may not necessarily be new, but they're popular and deserve mention. Here are this week’s picks.</p>

<p class="" style="white-space:pre-wrap;">Apple released watchOS 6 yesterday. It’s a solid, if not earthshaking upgrade, mainly thanks mainly to the improved health and fitness features.</p>

<p class="" style="white-space:pre-wrap;">The $49.99 <a href="https://www.pelican.com/us/en/discover/ems-phone-cases/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Pelican Protector EMS Wireless Charging Vent Mount</a> charges my iPhone and allows me to keep in line with a new law in my home state of Tennessee.</p>

<p class="" style="white-space:pre-wrap;"><a href="https://www.eyejust.com" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">EyeJust </a>has launched blue light blocking screen protectors for the iPhone 11, iPhone 11 Pro, and iPhone 11 Pro Max. They’re designed to help consumers avoid harmful effects of blue light. </p>

<p class="" style="white-space:pre-wrap;">In a note to clients — as noted by <a href="https://appleinsider.com/articles/19/09/20/demand-for-iphone-11-outpacing-supply-chain-expectations" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">AppleInsider</a> — JP Morgan says the increasing lead times suggest demand for the 2019 iPhones is higher than the supply chain anticipated. </p>

<p class="" style="white-space:pre-wrap;">Previewed in June at the 2019 Apple Worldwide Developer Conference, iOS is now available. There’s a lot to like about the operating system update, especially the new Dark Mode, photo editing changes, and the update Maps app.</p>

<p class="" style="white-space:pre-wrap;"><a href="https://developer.apple.com/news/?id=09192019a" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Apple says</a> the Apple Business Manager and Apple School Manager are now available in more locations. </p>

<p class="" style="white-space:pre-wrap;">Apple has released Safari 13 for macOS. It contains feature improvements as well as privacy, security and compatibility enhancements and is recommended for all users. </p>
