AT&T CEO says the iPhone 15 line-up is a hit (at least for his company)

Apple still isn’t in the top five list of smartphone brands in India, but the iPhone did see double digit growth in the first quarter of 2024, according to new data from Canalys.

Speaking to investors on Thursday about AT&T’s latest financial results, CEO John Stankey said that with the iPhone 15 launch we saw the strongest iPhone preorders we’ve had in many years despite competing promotions with higher subsidies allowing lower-value device trade-in.”

“For example, in September, we saw the strongest iPhone preorders we’ve had in many years despite competing promotions with higher subsidies allowing lower-value device trade-ins,” he said. “This is a testament to both the simplicity of our offers and the strength of our consistent and straightforward value proposition, as well as the quality of our network.”

Stankey added that most of iPhone buyers are signing up for AT&T’s “highest-value plans, even though it’s not a promo requirement.”
