Apple releases tvOS 16 for the Apple TV set-top box

Apple has released tvOS 16 for the Apple TV set-top box. Here is what’s new, per Apple’s release note:

° Support for Matter, a smart home standard that allows products to work with HomeKit, Alexa, Google Home, and Samsung SmartThings, among other automation platforms. With the Matter support, users will be able to control Matter-certified accessories with the Home app on Apple TV models. However, as noted by AppleInsider, while support is there, the actual standard launches later in the fall.

° Support for Nintendo Switch’s Joy-Cons and Pro Controller.

° Support for HDR10+;

° Video-forward featuring on the Apple TV+ tab;

° Apple Fitness+ enhancements: At key moments in yourworkout, Intensity Metrics are called out and will appear on the screen for motivation. The intensities are Easy, Moderate, Hard, and All Out.

You can install tvOS 16 on your Apple TV set-top box by going to Settings > System > Software Update.
