Notable apps and updates: March 4

On a regular basis, Apple World Today posts a list of notable new apps or app updates that have been released. They may not necessarily be new, but they’re popular and deserve mention. Here are today’s picks.


Softobe has updated FoldersSynchronizer, their macOS sync and backup tool, to version 5.1.7.

It allows users to sync and backup files, folders, disks and boot disks. FoldersSynchronizer also offers options like Timers, Multiple Folders, Filters, Exclude Items, Auto-Mount Volumes, AppleScripts, Conflicts Management, File Copy Preview, incremental or exact copy, log files and much more.

Version 5.1.7 grants several new features and improvements, such as macOS Big Sur optimization, bug fixes, and more. It requires macOS 10.13 or higher.

FoldersSynchronizer 5.1.7 is a US$12 upgrade for registered users. For new users, the cost  is $42.

Cisdem has released Cisdem Video Player 5.0.0, an upgrade of the free video player for macOS. 

It’s compatible with all mainstream video and audio files, like MP4, MKV, MOV, FLV, MPEG, WAV, and more. Version 5.0.0 fully supports 8K videos, and adds other features, including playlist, batch video conversions, switching between subtitles/audio in different languages.

EPOS, a premium audio brand the offers solutions for enterprise and gaming, launched its new EPOS Manager and EPOS Connect solution for macOS to ensure full support across all operating systems.

Best Buy is now offering its health and safety services on the Apple Watch.

Apple Watch users with the Lively app can get assistance from highly trained Lively Urgent Response Agents to get help in emergency and non-emergency situations. Agents can assist with everything from medical emergencies to sending help if a user has car trouble.

To access Lively Health & Safety Services on Apple Watch, users must download the Lively app from the App Store using Apple Watch Series 4 or newer and have a Lively Health & Safety plan. Users who agree to a two-year Preferred Health & Safety contract can get up to $200 off the purchase of a new Apple Watch Series 6, or up to $150 off the purchase of a new Apple Watch SE, only at Best Buy.
