Welcome to AWT TV, a weekly show featuring Steve Sande, Dennis Sellers and Marty Edwards of Apple World Today. Each week we’ll discuss what’s happened in the world of Apple, talk about new apps and accessories, maybe even have a demonstration or two of the latest software. Be sure to subscribe to the Apple World Today video channel on YouTube.
This week’s show is a slightly different format featuring Marty and Steve. We start with a pair of reviews of some iOS apps. Marty took a look at NextRadio — Live FM Radio, which allows you to tune into local FM stations and even interact with the staff. It’s free, and perfect for checking out your local music and news stations.
Steve then does a review and demo of iTranslate Converse, an impressive and easy-to-use translation app. You just tap and hold the screen, say something (or have someone else say something in their native language), and it’s translated into the other language in seconds. 38 languages and dialects are currently supported, and the app can be used offline. It’s $4.99 per month, but perfect for those international trips.
We then take a look at some fun accessories: Marty’s wife picked up a cool (no pun intended) fan that plugs into the Lightning port of an iPhone or iPad, Steve looks at the WÜD and RÖK iPhone cases that he reviewed on 8/8/17 (https://appleworld.today/blog/2017/8/8/wd-and-rk-completely-unique-iphone-cases-feature-burl-wood-stone) and the fun Lofree Poison M retro Bluetooth speaker (https://appleworld.today/blog/2017/8/2/lofree-poison-m-wireless-speaker-features-retro-looks-powerful-features).
Note that next week is a special show! The 8/14/17 episode will be ALL ECLIPSE, with apps, demos of photography techniques, and discussions about some of the things you’ll see if you’re in the path of totality like shadow bands, Bailey’s Beads, and the Diamond Ring. Be sure to tell all your friends to watch this special episode, which will start at 6:30 PM PT / 9:30 PM ET right here on the AWT channel.
Finally, we discuss the news of the week. Some of the most interesting news of the week includes accidentally leaked information about the upcoming iPhone that was found in an Apple-only HomePod OS update. T-Mobile announced a “Senior Plan” that is very inexpensive and very complete!
