Apple’s single sign-on feature in tvOS, iOS now supports 438 more cable, TV companies

Apple has added support for 438 cable and TV companies, including ones in Guam and the U.S. Virgin Islands, to its single-on feature in tvOS and iOS, as noted by AppleInsider

The expansion focuses on smaller regional providers, but also brings more U.S. territories into the fold with Guam’s Docomo Pacific and the Virgin Islands’ Innovative Cable TV now listed as supporting services. Note that an official support document covering single sign-on availability, last updated in July, says only 24 providers support the feature.

However, AppleInsider reports that iPhone, iPad and Apple TV owners running the latest version of iOS 10 or tvOS 10 can access what appears to be a revised carrier listing from the Settings app. The complete searchable catalog can be found in Settings > TV Provider on iOS and Settings > Accounts > TV Provider > Sign In on tvOS.

Single sign-on can be a time-saver for those who own more than one Apple device that can display video apps, such as the iPhone, iPad and Apple TV. By signing in to a cable or satellite-TV provider once on an iOS device or Apple TV, users then gain instant access to video apps provided with a pay TV subscription.

The new providers join others in making it easier for iOS and Apple TV viewers to watch TV anywhere at anytime. Several large national providers, including Comcast, Spectrum, Verizon and Google Fiber are absent from the list, while others — Dish, DirectTV and Sling TV — support the service.
