Apple’s iPhone market share dropped in China, but the tech giant still held onto fifth place among the country’s smartphone makers, according to the Canalys research group.
Smartphone shipments in the country bounced back to above 100 million in the second quarter of 2018; in quarter one, shipments fell by more than 20% to 91 million units. Huawei grew its market share to 27%, the largest market share for any smartphone vendor in China since quarter two of 2011.
Oppo, Vivo, and Xiaomi came in second, third, and fourth, respectively. Apple has about 15% of the smartphone market in China. Huawei, Oppo, Vivo, and Xiaomi are all China-based.
