Apple’s Carpool Karaoke spinoff nabs an Emmy nomination

Apple’s Carpool Karaoke spinoff has garnered an Emmy nomination. The Television Academy hands out Emmys for five short-form categories.

Apple Music’s nomination came in the variety series category, where it will go up against digital shorts from Comedy Central’s The Daily Show and NBC’s Saturday Night Live and The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. The Television Academy will hand out the short-form Emmy awards as part of the Creative Arts Emmys on Sept. 8 and 9. A broadcast of the show will air on FXX on Sept. 15.

Based on the popular segment from The Late Late Show with James Corden, Carpool Karaoke: The Series is produced for Apple Music by CBS Television Studios and Fulwell 73. Corden and Ben Winston are the creators and executive producers, along with executive producer Eric Pankowski.
