Apple’s AirPods accounted for 85% of earbud sales in the U.S. in 2017

Arizton‘s latest report states that the global wireless headphones market is anticipated to generate revenues of around $34 billion by 2024, growing at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of approximately 20% during 2018–2024. The research group says that, in 2017, AirPods accounted for 85% of earbuds sales in the U.S.



The smart headphones segment covered more than 50% of the total market share in 2018, according to Arizton. The research group also found that:

  • The incorporation of enhanced audio drivers is propelling the demand for high-fidelity wireless headphones in the market.

  • Vendors of true wireless headphones are incorporating higher IPx ratings in their products to cater to the rising demand from the sports and fitness segment.

  • The in-ear headphones segment covered the largest market share in 2018.

  • Sub-$100 wireless headphones are the fastest growing segment in the market, growing at a CAGR of around 22% by 2024.
