Apple working on multiple new external monitors

Apple is working on multiple new external monitors as well, including an update to the Pro Display XDR that was launched alongside the Intel Mac Pro in 2019, Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman says in his latest “Power On” newsletter.

The new monitors — like the Studio Display launched with the Mac Studio — will purportedly include Apple silicon. That helps the screens rely less on resources from the attached computer.

One of those displays could be an updated Studio Display. Unlike the current US$1,599 one, it will likely support ProMotion technology for refresh rates up to 120MHz, which will like mean it will cost more than $1,599. It’s also possible that a revamped Pro Display XDR could sport a 7K display as compared to the 6K display on the current model.

This info is from the free version of Power On. If you like it, consider subscribing to Bloomberg.com — you’ll receive the newsletter and get exclusive access to a Q&A section with Gurman.
