Apple will open iOS Developer Academy at University of Naples in October

In January, Apple CEO Tim Cook announced that the company would open its first iOS app development center in Europe. Now more details have been announced, with the company announcing that it will open the first iOS Developer Academy in cooperation with the University of Naples Federico II campus in San Giovanni a Teduccio, Italy.

The new campus is located in a coastal suburb east of Naples, and the free academy will open to more than 200 students in October for a nine-month course curriculum designed and supported by Apple.

Students will spend their first semester enhancing and improving their iOS software development skills, while the second semester will focus on startup creation and app design. During the second semester, students will team together to create apps for possible release on the App Store.

To apply or learn more about the academy, students can visit the University of Naples website where they’ll need to take an online test available in either English or Italian. Successful candidates will then move to interviews. The university is also accepting applications for teachers for the academy.

Apple’s expected to expand the Developer Academy concept to other countries in the future.
