Apple wants to trademark the word ‘slofie’

During the Sept. 10 “By Innovation Only” event, Apple introduced the term “slofie” (for slow motion selfies) in discussing the new iPhones. Now the tech giant wants to trademark the term.

The Verge says Apple has applied for a U.S. trademark on the term, potentially giving the company control over the word’s usage. The article notes that Apple “has reason to want to prevent the creation of knock-off slofie apps, too, since slofies are meant to be exclusive to the new iPhones.”
