Apple TV+ series launch sees tepid demand

Analysis of the U.S. market indicates that Apple’s shows for its Apple TV+ generated fairly modest levels of demand immediately post-release based on data from Parrot Analytics — as noted by Variety.

The research group examined the 24-hour period following the Apple TV+ launch on Nov. 1, and compared it with the demand levels 24 hours following release for all new streaming titles debuting in 2019. Only one Apple series, See came close to cracking the top 20.

Faring worse than See as well as two other new originals from Apple TV+ was its flagship series, The Morning Show. Variety says this trend is also playing out worldwide, where The Morning Show has the lowest demand of all Apple TV+ titles, “with levels significantly below those seen in other regions.”

These ratings could — and likely will — increase as more folks check out the new streaming service. Plus, some folks wait until all episodes of a new series are available for binge watching. And, of course, Apple is spending on much money Apple TV+ and realizes there’s lots of competition, it will have to play the long game on this venture.
