Apple TV adds NatGeo TV channel

Another day, another Apple TV channel! Today the NatGeo TV channel appeared on the Apple TV main screen, which appears to provide content from the National Geographic Channel and Nat Geo Wild channel found on most cable and satellite TV systems.

The new channel has on-demand shows and documentaries that cover history, science, culture and more. While the NatGeo TV channel is free, the Apple TV app requires you to sign in with an active cable subscription for special features.

Categories in the new channel include Adventure, Animals, History, People, Science, Technology and Travel among others. Some of these items are available for free even without a cable subscription. You may not see the NatGeo TV channel immediately, but it should appear automatically as time goes by or you can restart the Apple TV to refresh the content seen on your device.

This Apple TV news comes after word that the 3rd-generation device is about to receive an update that should turn it into a HomeKit home automation hub. Some rumor sites are expecting to see an all-new Apple TV that will include an App Store and more storage.
