Apple supplier Foxconn may move some iPad, MacBook assembly to Vietnam

Apple supplier Hon Hai Precision Industry, better known as Foxconn Technology Group is moving some iPad and MacBook assembly to Vietnam from China at the request of Apple, reports Reuters, quoting an unnamed “person with knowledge of the plan.”

The article says that Foxconn, Apple’s main manufacturing partner, is building assembly lines for the iPad and MacBook laptop at its plant in Vietnam’s northeastern Bac Giang province, to come online in the first half of 2021. The lines will purportedly take some production from China.
