Apple Store at Penn Square Mall in Oklahoma to get $2.5 million renovation

The Oklahoman reports that renovations to Oklahoma City’s only Apple Store at Penn Square Mall will top $2.5 million, according to building permits filed Tuesday in Oklahoma City.

The mail is centrally located in the heart of Oklahoma City’s popular Business and Tourism District, Penn Square. It’s home to over 140 specialty shops and restaurants.

The Apple store closed April 18 for renovations. A temporary store has opened on the upper level of the mall in the Macy’s wing while the renovations are underway.

AppleInsider notes that the build cost suggests Apple intends to include the mammoth 37-foot TV display that sits as a centerpiece at some newer Apple Stores. Custom built, the gigantic installation is estimated to cost about $1.5 million, and was first introduced to the U.S. market when a Memphis, Tenn., Apple Store received a makeover in March.
