Apple Special Event: Introduction

This is the first of a number of quick notes to let our readers know what’s just been announced… if you haven’t been watching the Special Event from the “Town Hall, Cupertino”. Keep coming back to Apple World Today and we’ll give you the announcements as they happen, plus deep dives into all of the news a bit later on today.

Apple CEO Tim Cook started off the show with a video created by a disabled person showing how the accessibility features in Apple products pretty much let anyone do anything.

Next, Cook talked about the iPhone 7 and the camera, highlighting the photos that some users have taken. Cook talked about the Memories feature of Photos, which I personally find to be an amazing feature — apparently over 400 million Memories have been viewed to date.

iOS 10 got a quick overview, with Cook saying that over 60% of all devices are now running iOS 10, while Android 7 (which shipped before iOS 10) is at less than 1% penetration.

Cook went on to talk about Apple Pay in Japan, and the intro of the Apple Watch Series 2. The Apple Watch Nike+ will be available tomorrow…
